Anemoia is one of five designs in the Great Words Series. The Great Words Series celebrates remarkable words that ask us to linger over a word, discover its story, and perhaps recognize a part of ourselves within it. Across the centuries and continents, people have found beautiful ways to describe longing, comfort, belonging, nostalgia and the quiet moments that connect us all.

Anemoia (an-eh-MOY-ah) is a word recently coined by writer John Koenig for The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows (2012). It is derived from Greek roots meaning "without" and "memory" thus: nostalgia for something never experienced.

This design is relatively easy. However, because all of the pieces in the Great Word Series are larger pieces the entire series is best suited for INTERMEDIATE to EXPERT stitchers. If a beginning stitcher is interested in taking on larger projects this series is doable. Completed pieces provide much satisfaction for the stitcher and thought provoking art for the viewer.

This kit is offered in three different fabric sizes from which you can choose: 14 count, 18 count, and 28 count. As always, 14 count is the easiest and 28 count is much harder.

The finished pieces are as follows: 14 count - 19.5" x 8; 18 count - 15" x 6"; and, 28 count - 10" x 4." The fabric included also adds 3.5" on all sides to allow for finishing.

The kit includes the fabric count size you choose, all the thread (plus additional if needed), a needle, instructions and beeswax for thread prep.
